Countering censorship

In June, the former head of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin rebelled against his master and the defence ministry. He claimed that the state military was preventing his henchmen from operating on the ground due to the lack of ammunition and proper food. The difficulty encountered by the paramilitary group was resulting in several casualties on the ground and in the battlefields in Ukraine.

On the same day, the TVM newsroom asked for my opinion on the situation in Russia. After appearing on TVM News, the Secretary General of the Nationalist Party protested with the Malta Broadcasting Authority for having me in the news set. The Malta Broadcasting Authority accepted the protest. The reasons are still a bit unclear. Afterwards, I sought clarifications and wrote two letters to understand the reasons behind accepting the protest. In respect of the independence of the institution, I never published their second reply. And the reasons why, will be published in this blog after the 8th of June.

In fact, the reason why I was asked to express my opinion on TVM news, was simply because I served the country for four years in the political and security committee of the EU, particularly dealing with military and security. At the point of the MBA’s decision, I was still uncertain and testing waters whether I must submit my name for the upcoming MEP elections. However, the decision of the MBA endorsed my conviction to put my name in the list. Thereafter, I intensified my campaign on the ground to reach more people.

When I spoke to a few colleagues from the Council of Europe they were surprised. My former colleagues informed me that this will result in a chilling effect, and the message sent by those accepting the protest, to the newsroom at the PBS, is to stop asking for my opinion. Well, the rest is history.

The reason to open this blog is to reach more people. Surely, I want to reach a wider audience to help them settle their injustices, support them in their social problems, as well as shaping opinions beyond what is fed by the mainstream media. I wanted to have my own space, where I can reply to incorrect reporting.

In the coming weeks, I will be writing about different topics, including the pillars on which I will be basing my campaign.

Meanwhile, thank you for your great support.
